In the Old Testament*, God laid out a plan whereby people who were in a mess could find shelter.
That’s the ultimate hope for this site. Because sometimes you and I get in messes.
Cities of Refuge were centrally located and, historically, roads were built to provide easy access.
They were specifically designed for those who had committed murder “without malice.” The refugee could escape to one of the six cities and be protected from revenge by the victim’s family. The leaders of the city were not allowed to turn anyone away, yet these were not places to escape consequence. They were places of security while awaiting trial or until the death of the high priest.
Our High Priest, Jesus, will never die. And He already paid the price for our guilty verdict.
Those of us who have found life in Him are allowed to live in His refuge.
The Walk WITH Jesus page is a parable of sorts and the way I try to live my life, recapturing the “simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” ** that is too often a casualty in the ongoing war between those who would legalistically try to steal our freedom and those who misuse and abuse grace to justify their sin.
The front page is a simple blog, a continuation of my writing that started over 7 years ago.
The other pages of this site will represent one of the ancient Cities of Refuge. As the “Under Construction” page says, I hope new cities will be built. The only one “complete” right now is the “Worship” page or “Ramoth”. The word means “heights” or “eminences” and I believe is symbolic for the Biblical truth that praise and worship of our God is a refuge. † I hope to offer new content on a regular basis, so come back often.
The site is obviously a work in progress, but my prayer is that you enjoy it and that God uses it in some small way to form you, so that you may be complete in Christ. ***
Walk WITH Jesus,
Jim
